Rockland County Executive Scott Vanderhoef is the latest Republican to take soundings about a run against New York Democratic Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand. Vanderhoef, who ran unsuccessfully for the House in 2002 and was his party's nominee for lieutenant governor in 2006, floated an approximately 30-day timetable for making up his mind.
And the New York Daily News says that ex-Bush administration official Dan Senor is "close" to making up his mind about a Gillibrand challenge, too. From the paper: "[T]he potential candidate has traded phone calls with state GOP Chairman Ed Cox, who has made it clear he's still in the market for an opponent to Gillibrand - preferably one with either big fundraising chops or personal cash to burn."
