GOP Launches Robocalls Against Kilroy

Ohioans might have been forgiven last week for thinking that the midterm congressional election is just days away, not months.

As part of what it calls a "Code Red" campaign targeting potentially vulnerable Democrats, the National Republican Congressional Committee launched a robocall campaign urging Rep. Mary Jo Kilroy to vote against House Speaker "Nancy Pelosi's dangerous health scheme."

Kilroy, D-Columbus, voted to approve the House version of health-care reform last year but has not yet said whether she will vote for the revised measure sought by President Barack Obama. The president has indicated that he is willing to see a bill passed by using parliamentary maneuvers to prevent Republicans from stalling the bill, if necessary. He wants a final bill passed in about two weeks. So far, Republicans have remained in essentially unanimous opposition.
