Letters from readers: Meek focused on issues

KENDRICK MEEK

Focused on issues

The profile on Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Kendrick Meek was a breath of fresh air.

Coverage on Gov. Charlie Crist and former House Speaker Marco Rubio's petty, personal disputes has reached a saturation point.

Finally we read about Kendrick Meek, a candidate focused on issues, not political philosophy or personality. In Northeast Florida, we are often overlooked by political candidates or campaigns, but that is about to change.

Meek voted for the Recovery Act, which impacted more than 112,000 jobs for teachers, firemen, police officers and others in Florida.

He also voted for the Jobs for Main Street Act, which included help for small businesses, infrastructure construction, an extension of unemployment and COBRA benefits, and a child tax credit.

He will continue to work to ensure that all Floridians get the help they need. He wants you to know that creating jobs for Floridians is his top priority.
