Washington, DC - 21st Century Democrats today endorsed Lieutenant Governor Bill Halter for the United States Senate. Bill Halter has a long history supporting progressive issues that have helped the people of Arkansas. Most importantly, Bill Halter is a progressive we can count on to work for everyday Americans, and not back special interests.
Bill Halter knows what is truly important: raising the minimum wage so workers can afford to take care of their families, supporting the creation of clean energy technologies to help our environment and jumpstart our economy and supporting the rights of workers to organize. Bill Halter also brings significant experience in fiscal accountability and is a strong advocate for financial reform. Under President Clinton, Bill Halter helped rein in fiscal waste when, during his six years with the Office of Management and Budget, he helped turn the government's budget deficit of $290 billion into a surplus of $125 billion.
Every election cycle, 21st Century Democrats looks for candidates who show great promise of future leadership, and who aren't afraid to take on big corporate interests. The organization is known for building a farm team of progressive populist leadership in the Democratic Party.
